Spa and Hot Tub Service in Phoenix

A spa only works if the water is ready when you are. NextGen Pool Care offers weekly spa and hot tub service across the Phoenix area. We keep the water clean, sanitized, and balanced, so you can lift the cover and get in. We take care of spas built into a pool and stand-alone hot tubs, and you can add spa care to your pool plan or get it on its own. Call (623) 526-4945 to set it up.

Why Spa Water Needs More Attention Than Pool Water

A spa holds a few hundred gallons. A pool holds thousands. That small size is what makes spa water tricky.

Think about one person getting in. In a pool, their sweat, lotion, and body oils get spread through a huge amount of water. In a spa, the same stuff goes into a tiny amount of water that’s sitting at 100 degrees or more. Hot water burns through sanitizer fast. It also makes pH climb and calcium come out of the water quicker.

So spa water can go from fine to cloudy in just a few days, especially after a weekend with guests. It needs to be tested on its own, not just treated like a small corner of the pool.

What We Do on a Spa Visit

On every weekly visit, your tech:

  • Tests the spa water separately from the pool
  • Adds sanitizer, either chlorine or bromine, based on what your spa uses
  • Balances the pH and alkalinity so the water is comfortable and doesn’t scale up
  • Cleans debris out of the water
  • Looks at the water and the spa for anything that seems off

You get the results in the same emailed report you get after each pool visit. You can also look back at your spa’s water history any time in our customer portal.

Built-In Spas

Many homes in the Valley have a spa built right into the pool, often with a spillover that runs into the pool. These spas usually share the pool’s pump, filter, and heater. Valves at the equipment pad switch the water between pool and spa.

If you’re on our weekly pool service, adding the spa is simple. Your tech is already at the equipment. We test the spa water on its own and keep it ready for when you switch over.

Since the equipment is shared, a problem with the spa heater or pump is really a pool equipment problem. That’s work our repair techs handle every day. See our pool heater repair page if your spa won’t heat up.

Stand-Alone Hot Tubs

A portable hot tub sits on its own, with its own pump, heater, and controls built into the cabinet. We service these too. You don’t need a pool to sign up.

There’s one thing we’re upfront about. Every hot tub maker builds their tubs differently, with their own parts and their own control boards. For repairs on a stand-alone hot tub, we recommend calling the company that made it, or a dealer for that brand. They have the parts and the know-how for that exact model. We’ll keep the water right, and you’ll have the right people for anything inside the cabinet.

Spa Care in Sun City and Sun City West

We take care of a lot of spas out in Sun City and Sun City West. Plenty of homes there have a spa, and owners who use theirs to loosen up stiff joints want it hot and ready most days. Weekly service means you don’t have to haul chemicals or test strips around. If you’re there for only part of the year, we keep the spa on schedule while you’re away, and the emailed report shows you how it looks. Learn more about our pool care in Sun City.

Signs Your Spa Water Needs Help

  • Cloudy or dull water, even right after you add sanitizer
  • Foam on top when the jets are running
  • A strong chemical smell, or a musty smell
  • Itchy skin or red eyes after a soak
  • White crust at the waterline or on the jets
  • Slimy feel on the walls or seats

Most of these come from water that’s out of balance or a sanitizer level that’s too low. Foam often means a buildup of soaps and lotions in the water. Weekly testing catches these before they get bad.

Tips Between Visits

A few simple habits make a big difference:

  1. Keep the cover on when the spa isn’t in use. It holds heat in and keeps dust and leaves out.
  2. Rinse off before you get in. Lotion, sunscreen, and hair products are the main cause of foam.
  3. Don’t soak in a swimsuit right out of the washing machine. Leftover soap foams up.
  4. After a busy weekend, let us know. A lot of people in the water uses up sanitizer fast.

Common Questions

Do I need a pool plan to get spa service?

No. You can add spa care to a pool plan, or get spa service by itself if you just have a hot tub. Both options are on our pricing page.

Chlorine or bromine: which is better for a spa?

Both work. Bromine holds up a little better in hot water, and some people find it gentler. Chlorine works faster. We’ll use whatever your spa is set up for, or help you pick if you’re starting fresh.

Can you fix my hot tub?

If the spa is built into your pool and runs on the pool’s equipment, our repair techs can work on that equipment. For stand-alone hot tubs, we suggest calling the maker or a dealer for your brand. Each one is built differently.

How hot should I keep my spa?

Most people like it between 100 and 104 degrees. Never go above 104. In the summer, a lot of Phoenix owners turn the heat way down or off and use the spa as a cool plunge.
