Sun City West got its start in 1978, west of the Agua Fria River. The homes are newer than in Sun City, and many have a private pool or spa out back. A lot of them are now 30 to 40 years old. That’s the age when equipment starts to need more attention.

Equipment From the 80s and 90s

Many pools here still run on a single-speed pump. Those pumps use a lot of power, and parts for the older models can be hard to find. When yours starts to fail, we can go over your options. That includes swapping to a variable-speed pump, which costs less to run each month.

We also check heaters, timers, and filters. An old heater that sits unused most of the year can have problems the first time you turn it on in the winter. We’ll test it before the cool months so you’re not stuck with a cold spa in January.

Old timers are another weak spot. A worn-out mechanical timer can slip and leave the pump off for days. Nobody notices until the water starts to turn.

A new pump also runs much quieter. That matters when the equipment sits right next to a bedroom window or the neighbor’s patio, which is common on the smaller lots here.

Part-Year Residents

Plenty of folks in Sun City West live here from fall to spring and leave for the summer. That’s the worst time to leave a pool alone. The water gets hot, chlorine burns off, and algae grows fast. We keep your pool on a weekly schedule the whole time you’re away. If anything breaks, we’ll call you and tell you the cost before we fix it. Nothing gets added to your bill that you didn’t agree to first. That goes for every job we do. The emailed report you get after each visit shows what we checked and what we added, so you can keep tabs on the pool from anywhere. Our repair team handles it from there.

Hard Water and Old Plaster

Thirty-plus years of hard water leaves its mark. We see a lot of white scale on the tile and rough, stained plaster in Sun City West. Some of it comes off with a good tile cleaning. Some pools need an acid wash to bring the plaster back. We’ll tell you which one makes sense for your pool and what it costs.

If the plaster is worn through in spots, an acid wash won’t fix it. In that case we’ll let you know it’s time to think about resurfacing. We won’t try to sell you something you don’t need yet.

Community Rules

Sun City West has rules about how homes and yards are kept up. A green pool can get you a letter. Weekly service keeps the water clear so you don’t have to worry about it. If you ever do get a notice about your pool, call us. We can usually get the water clear in a few days.

Getting Set Up

Call (623) 526-4945 and we’ll set a time for a first visit. On that visit we:

• Test the water and balance it
• Clean the pool, baskets, and filter
• Check the pump, heater, timer, and plumbing
• Look over the plaster and tile

Then we tell you what we found and what, if anything, needs fixing. If you’d like to look first, our service plans are listed online. We serve Sun City West from our Glendale office at 6152 W Marconi Ave. That office is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm, and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. We’re also nearby in Sun City and Surprise.

Can you drain and refill my pool?

Yes. After years of hard water, some pools need a drain and refill to reset the water. We’ll let you know if yours needs it. Spring and fall are the best times to do it.

Will you check on the pool if a storm hits while I’m gone?

Yes. Monsoon storms can blow a lot of dirt and leaves into a pool. If one hits between visits and you’re out of town, call us and we’ll swing by. You won’t have to find someone to go look.

How long does it take to swap a pump?

Most pump swaps take a few hours. We’ll give you a price for the pump and labor before we start. We haul the old one away too.

Do you service spas too?

Yes. We clean and balance spas, whether they’re attached to the pool or stand alone.
