Pool Service in Central Phoenix, AZ
Central Phoenix has some of the oldest backyard pools in the Valley. Around Arcadia, the Biltmore area, and the historic districts near downtown, plenty of pools went in back in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Our Biltmore office sits right in the middle of it, on Coolidge Street. That puts our crews minutes away from most homes in this part of town.
Big Trees Mean Full Skimmer Baskets
Older neighborhoods come with mature landscaping. Arcadia is known for its citrus groves, and a lot of yards still have orange and grapefruit trees hanging over the water. Add in tall palms, olive trees, and mulberries, and you get a steady rain of leaves, blossoms, and fruit.
That debris does more than look bad. When leaves sit on the bottom, they break down and eat up your chlorine. Blossoms clog skimmer baskets and pump strainers. We empty both every visit and brush the walls and steps so nothing settles into the plaster.
In spring, when the citrus blooms, some pools need an extra look between visits. Just give us a call if yours fills up fast.
Aging Plaster and Plumbing
A pool that’s 50 or 60 years old has usually been replastered at least once. Some of them are overdue again. We keep an eye out for rough spots, stains, and small cracks, and we’ll tell you when it’s time to think about resurfacing. We won’t push it before you need it.
Old plumbing is another thing we watch. Underground lines in these older homes can leak slowly for months before anyone notices. If your water level drops faster than normal evaporation, we’ll let you know. A pool here can lose about a quarter inch a day in the summer just from heat and sun. More than that, and something may be leaking.

Hard Water Is Worse Than You Think
Phoenix tap water is some of the hardest in the country. Every time you top off the pool, you add more calcium. Over time that leaves white crust on the tile line and builds up inside your heater and filter. We test and balance the water every week to slow it down. When scale does build up, we can clean the tile or handle an acid wash.

- Vacuuming as needed
- Testing and balancing chlorine, pH, and alkalinity
- Checking the pump, filter, and pressure gauge

Do you work on older pools with odd shapes or old equipment?
Yes. Kidney shapes, free-form pools, and old diving pools are common around here. We work on older equipment too. If a part is no longer made, we’ll find a good replacement and tell you the cost first.
Can you handle a pool at a rental or a house that’s for sale?
Yes. We service rentals and homes on the market all over Central Phoenix. A clean pool helps a house show better, and we can work on a short-term schedule if you need it.
For Airbnb and other short-term rentals, we usually recommend service twice a week. Guests come to Arizona to swim, and they’ll use the pool almost any time of year. That’s a lot more swimmers than a normal family pool sees. More swimmers means the water needs to be tested and dosed more often.
Guests notice the pool, too. A clean one helps you get good reviews. A cloudy or dirty one can get you a bad review, and that can cost you bookings.
NextGen Pool Care is an Arizona licensed and bonded contractor, ROC #356379, and we’re fully insured.
